We had a wonderful trip to the shore. It was unexpectedly shortened due to work requirements, but the time we did have there was wonderful!
As I mentioned in my earlier entry, I prayerfully asked God to still me this week and allow me to listen - I'm very open to what he has to reveal to me and I knew my God would answer this prayer! He's been working away at it. On the way down in the car I felt led to examine the definition of Happiness. Interesting! Happiness seems like a good place to start. Yes, a perfect place to start!
Happiness and Contentment
Definition of Happiness: An agreeable feeling or condition of the soul arising from good fortune or propitious happening of any kind; the possession of those circumstances or that state of being which is attended with enjoyment; the state of being happy; contentment; joyful satisfaction; felicity; blessedness.
What God has to say:
Ec 2:26 - To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
A chasing after the wind! Ever had that feeling? That little tiny sentence spoke volumes to me. I think I've spent most of my life "Chasing after the wind"!
Contentment:
Matthew 5 (the message)
Your blessed when you're content with just who you are-no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought!
